🔵 Module 1: Celebrating Self
Understanding, appreciating, and respecting your body
🎯 Module Overview
This opening module helps students build a positive relationship with their own bodies.
We guide them away from shame and judgment — and toward curiosity, gratitude, and care.
There’s no nudity, no sensitive imagery, and no disrobing.
Instead, we use gentle language, grounding activities, and creative reflection to explore the body as something good and worthy of respect.
🌿 Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, students will be able to:
Identify key parts of the body and their functions (age-appropriate)
Express at least one thing they appreciate about their own body
Understand that bodies come in many shapes, sizes, and colors — and that all are valid
Begin building self-respect through mindful, respectful language about themselves
🧠 Core Topics
Introduction to body parts (head, heart, legs, skin, etc.) using correct and gentle terms
The body as a gift and ally, not a problem to fix
Why we all look different — and why that’s okay
Discussing how the body helps us feel, move, express, and connect
👣 Experiential Practice – Levels 1 & 2 Integration
These grounding activities are included in every module.
Level 1: The Grounded One
Students sit or lie down (fully clothed) on a soft surface (grass, mat, or towel), hands touching the Earth.
A short 2-minute guided breathing:
“Feel your hands on the Earth. Your legs resting. Your breath in your chest. This is your body. This is your place.”
Level 2: The Barefoot Seeker (Optional but encouraged)
Invite students to remove shoes (socks optional) and stand or walk briefly on safe, clean surfaces.
Focus on sensation: “What does it feel like? Soft grass? Cool tiles? Can you feel each toe?”
✏️ Suggested Activities
Body Gratitude Drawing: Students trace an outline of their hand or body (fully clothed) and label ways their body helps them:
“My legs help me run.” “My eyes help me see my family.” “My skin feels warm in the sun.”My Body Helps Me… Poem: Fill-in-the-blank sentence starters to express positive body function (not looks).
“I’m proud that my body can…”
“I like that my arms can…”
“I feel strong when I…”Mirror Affirmation (Optional): Looking in a small mirror, students say or think:
“Thank you, body. I will treat you kindly.”
📖 Sam & Sam Storybook (Conservative Version)
“Sam & Sam Discover Their Superpowers”
Sam & Sam feel unsure about their bodies — until their teacher shows them that every body has superpowers: running, singing, hugging, seeing, growing. By the end, they see their bodies not as problems, but as the amazing vessels that carry them through life.

🧍♂️ Note for Educators
This module sets the emotional tone for the program.
It’s not about deep anatomy or health talk — it’s about feeling safe in your skin, and starting a conversation of care.
Keep language soft, inclusive, and joyful.
Reassure students: “All bodies are good bodies. Yours included.”
