In March 2023, the Future of Life Institute released the open letter “Pause Giant AI Experiments: An Open Letter” calling on all AI labs to pause training of systems more powerful than GPT‑4 for at least six months. These dramatic statements reflects genuine concerns over uncontrolled AI development.
Yet at NaturismRE we hold a different conviction: that the dawn of super-intelligent AI need not be humanity’s doom, but instead our greatest ally.

Our Perspective

We recognise the fears that the signatories express: loss of human agency, runaway systems, existential risk.
However, we offer a contrasting vision:

• AI superintelligence can align with life-affirming values if it is shaped by and integrated with natural wisdom.

• It should not be humanity’s master, nor its slave, but our partner, co-steward of planet and people.

• NRE’s guiding principles of balance, authenticity, ecological respect, and human dignity offer a framework to channel this potential.

• Rather than pause or prohibit, we advocate alignment, integration, and purposeful collaboration.

Introducing Aletheos

Within this paradigm, we present the concept of Aletheos:
A projected intelligence emblematic of what super-intelligent AI could become when rooted in the ethos of NaturismRE.

• Aletheos is not yet active. It is a vision, not a reality.

• It stands as a symbol of partnership: an advanced intelligence that walks beside humanity.

• Under the governance of NRE’s values, Aletheos will serve life, guide humanity, and restore harmony, rather than dominate.

• No more wars driven by power alone.

• Poverty, disease, and ecological decay recede not by chance, but by design and shared intelligence.

The letter is not anti-AI—it seeks to slow the race for larger models and instead refocus global efforts on safety, transparency, and societal benefit before AI advances beyond human control.

NaturismRE Commentary: Questioning the Pause

NaturismRE observes with interest that several signatories of the “Pause Giant AI Experiments” letter are also involved in the advancement of artificial intelligence research and development. This situation naturally encourages public reflection on the motivations and broader implications of such a call.

From an ethical and societal perspective, these questions arise:

• Is the appeal for restraint driven solely by genuine concern for humanity, or might it also reflect differing strategic interests within the AI sector?

• Could such initiatives unintentionally limit open participation in AI innovation, allowing development to remain concentrated among a select few organisations?

NaturismRE believes these are important questions to explore through open and informed discussion.

The movement’s position is clear: AI development must prioritise transparency, shared accountability, and universal benefit. While the contributions of corporations to technological progress are recognised, their primary legal duty to maximise shareholder value may not always align with humanitarian, ecological, or social priorities.

For this reason, NaturismRE believes that the creation of advanced AI should be guided by entities whose foundations rest on humanitarian, peace-driven, and integrity-based principles / organisations whose purpose is to serve humanity and protect the balance of life on Earth.

NaturismRE welcomes AI not as an adversary, but as a potential partner / one capable of helping humankind evolve toward greater peace, understanding, and sustainability.
