Write to a Health Representative or Public Health Authority
Encouraging evidence-based consideration of naturism, stigma, body acceptance and health opportunity
Health policy should be informed by evidence, appropriate research and a willingness to examine questions that may otherwise remain outside mainstream public-health discussion.
This resource can help you contact a Health Minister, public-health authority, health department or other appropriate representative about health and wellbeing questions associated with naturism, non-sexual nudity, body acceptance, stigma and supportive environments.
You do not need to belong to NaturismRE, the NRE Health Institute, a federation, club or other organisation to use this resource.
You do not represent NRE by using the template. Adapt it to the health question, jurisdiction and institution you are contacting.
No membership. No fee. No paywall.
What Health Questions Could You Raise?
Health and wellbeing are broad subjects. A useful letter should identify the particular question you want a health authority to consider rather than treating naturism itself as a medical intervention.
Body Image & Acceptance
Whether body acceptance, body image and reduced appearance-based judgement warrant consideration within health and wellbeing research.
Stigma & Wellbeing
Whether stigma, shame, misunderstanding or social exclusion associated with lawful naturist participation may affect psychological or social wellbeing.
Nature & Outdoor Activity
How opportunities for outdoor activity, recreation and connection with natural environments may interact with broader health and wellbeing objectives.
Social Participation
Whether social environments, participation opportunities and barriers to inclusion deserve greater consideration in health research and policy.
Health Opportunity
Whether environments, rules, schedules and social conditions create or restrict practical opportunities for healthy participation and recovery.
Public Understanding
Whether misconceptions surrounding non-sexual nudity may contribute to stigma or prevent evidence-based discussion of relevant health questions.
Research Gaps
Whether further independent research would help clarify potential relationships between naturism, body acceptance, stigma, environment and wellbeing.
Evidence Matters
Advocacy should distinguish between established evidence, associations, hypotheses, participant experiences and areas where further research is required.
Avoid presenting naturism as a treatment for a medical or psychological condition. Likewise, avoid claiming that a particular health outcome will occur simply because somebody participates in naturism.

Subject: Request for consideration of naturism, body acceptance and health & wellbeing research
Dear [Health Minister / Public Health Representative / Health Authority] ,
I am writing to ask whether your office would consider the health and wellbeing questions associated with naturism, non-sexual nudity, body acceptance, stigma and access to supportive environments.
My particular interest concerns [IDENTIFY THE SPECIFIC HEALTH OR WELLBEING QUESTION] .
I am not suggesting that naturism should be regarded as a medical treatment or that participation guarantees particular health outcomes.
Rather, I am asking whether the available evidence, emerging research and identified research gaps warrant greater consideration within public-health discussion.
Depending upon the responsibilities of your office, areas that may warrant consideration include:
NaturismRE's Health Institute has developed research, surveys and conceptual frameworks intended to contribute to this discussion. These resources should not be interpreted as clinical guidance or as establishing that naturism causes particular health outcomes. They are provided to support research, discussion and further evaluation.
Relevant material is available through the NRE Health Institute:

I would appreciate your office advising whether these questions fall within your responsibilities and whether the available evidence or identified research gaps may warrant further consideration.
Where responsibility rests with another health agency, research body, department or authority, I would appreciate being directed to the appropriate organisation.
Thank you for considering my correspondence.
Yours sincerely,

NRE Health Institute
The NRE Health Institute provides a dedicated framework for examining health, wellbeing, environmental conditions, social participation and related questions through research, public education and institutional engagement.
Its work includes research resources, surveys, health and wellbeing frameworks and Safe Health Zones.
These resources are intended to support evidence-informed discussion and further investigation. They should not be interpreted as medical diagnosis, treatment recommendations or guarantees of individual health outcomes.
Make the Request Specific
Health authorities receive correspondence concerning many different subjects. A focused question is easier to assess and direct to the appropriate area.
Instead of asking a health authority to endorse naturism generally, identify the health or research question you want considered.
For example, your correspondence might concern body-image research, stigma, social participation, access to supportive environments, public-health communication or the need for further independent research.
Avoid presenting personal experience as proof of a general medical effect. Personal experience can explain why an issue matters to you, while research should be used to support broader claims.
Supporting NRE Resources
Select the resources most relevant to the question you are raising. There is generally no need to send every available resource with one piece of correspondence.
NRE Health Institute
The central NRE resource for health, wellbeing, research, institutional engagement and related frameworks.
Health & Wellbeing Matrix
A structured NRE framework for examining health opportunity, environments, participation and related wellbeing considerations.
Health & Wellbeing Survey
NRE's ongoing survey examining health, wellbeing and related participant experiences.
Safe Health Zones
An NRE framework examining environmental and operational conditions that may affect health opportunity, recovery and participation.
Research Before Conclusions
Some questions concerning naturism, body acceptance, stigma, environment and wellbeing may have existing research. Others may remain under-researched or require stronger evidence.
That distinction matters.
Asking a health authority to examine an issue does not require claiming that the answer has already been established.
Where evidence remains limited, further independent research may itself be an appropriate request.
When You Receive a Response
Read carefully what the health authority actually says.
An acknowledgement is not an endorsement. A referral to another agency does not mean that the authority has accepted the health proposition being raised.
A response may identify existing research, explain current health policy, identify another responsible body or indicate that the subject is not presently within the authority's priorities.
If new questions arise, follow up with a focused request for clarification.
Ask the Question. Examine the Evidence.
Health policy does not need predetermined conclusions before a subject can be investigated.
Asking health authorities to consider evidence, identify research gaps and examine relevant health and wellbeing questions can itself contribute to a more informed discussion.
The NRE Health Institute provides research, frameworks and public resources to support that discussion.
Evidence first. Claims proportionate to the evidence.
