Subject: Request for Recognition of Naturism as a Climate-Positive Lifestyle & Support for the NICP Act
Dear Executive Secretary and Climate Action Champions Office,
I write to you as the Founder of NaturismRE, a global initiative promoting naturism and minimal-clothing lifestyles as pathways toward mental well-being, cultural truth, and most
urgently, climate mitigation.
NaturismRE represents a growing international community committed to reducing the environmental, psychological, and economic harms caused by overconsumption —
particularly in the fashion and body-based industries. We believe that naturism, when practiced respectfully and legally, offers one of the most underutilised behavioral levers in the fight against climate change.
A Low-Impact Lifestyle, Hidden in Plain Sight
The global fashion and textile industry contributes:
• ~10% of global CO₂ emissions
• ~20% of global wastewater
• ~35% of oceanic microplastic pollution
Naturists — by conscious choice — reject the cultural dependency on clothing, significantly reducing personal consumption of textiles, detergents, and synthetic materials.
When adopted at scale, even within private spaces or designated areas, naturism would lead to measurable ecological benefits.
The Resistance Is Financial: Who Profits from Suppression?
We must be honest about the vested interests that stand to lose if naturism and nudism were fully recognised, decriminalised, and protected. These include industries whose profits are
tightly linked to fabricating body shame, exploiting appearance anxiety, and promoting overconsumption:
Industries economically threatened by widespread naturism:
• Fashion and textile industry (clothing manufacturing & fast fashion)
• Cosmetics and skincare (driven by “cover-up” culture)
• Plastic surgery & aesthetic clinics (fueled by unrealistic body standards)
• Fitness-as-image sectors (body sculpting & gym franchising)
• Adult entertainment & pornography (which misrepresent non-sexual nudity)
• Advertising & marketing firms (profiting from sexualisation and body anxiety)
• Underwear & lingerie industries
• Religious or ideological lobbying groups (with financial ties to anti-body-freedom
messaging)
• Certain media outlets (who rely on sensationalising or mocking nudity)
• Chemical-based hygiene & detergent products
These industries have strong lobbying power and may influence policies that frame naturism as deviant or incompatible with societal norms — despite its environmental, psychological, and social benefits.
The Naturist Integrity & Cultural Protection Act (NICP Act 2025)
To address cultural discrimination and institutional bias, we have authored the NICP Act,
which:
• Defines naturism and nudism as non-sexual, peaceful, lawful lifestyles.
• Prohibits their misrepresentation in fetish or adult content.
• Enables legal protection for naturist individuals, groups, and spaces.
• Supports recognition of naturism as a viable low-emission lifestyle model.
We believe this act, originating in Australia, can serve as a global template.
Our Request to the UNFCCC
We respectfully call on the UNFCCC to:
1. Recognise naturism and minimal clothing as a legitimate, climate-conscious lifestyle.
2. Review and consider promoting the NICP Act as a global legislative model.
3. Allow NaturismRE to contribute through observer status, side-events, or public briefings.
4. Acknowledge the disproportionate political influence of industries economically threatened by naturism — and support transparency in climate resistance.
A New Ally in the Climate Struggle
NaturismRE is not asking for privilege. We are asking for visibility, truth, and representation. We believe humanity must be free to choose lifestyles that align with nature, health, peace, and sustainability — without stigma or suppression by industrial powers.
We would be honoured to contribute documentation, research findings, a full copy of the NICP Act, and proposals for dialogue.
Saludos cordiales,
Vincent Marty
