FAQs – NRE(X) Files: Second Round of
Letters
Purpose & Legitimacy
1. Why is NaturismRE writing to governments worldwide?
Because naturism is suppressed, misrepresented, and left in legal ambiguity across most of the developed world. Governments have ignored over 200 million naturists and nudists globally. Silence is complicity. NRE is demanding recognition, reform, and protection.
2. What gives NaturismRE the right to contact foreign governments?
International law. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) guarantee freedom of expression and association “regardless of frontiers.” Global movements like Greenpeace and Amnesty International have long exercised this right. NaturismRE stands in that tradition.
3. Isn’t naturism a private lifestyle, not a political issue?
No. When laws criminalise or stigmatise naturism, it becomes a political issue. Naturism is about human rights, cultural freedom, and public health. Governments regulate those — so naturists must speak up.
Scope & Targets
4. Why were 41 countries chosen?
They represent the “developed world” where:
• Laws are restrictive but reform is possible.
• Governments claim to uphold human rights.
• Cultural influence is global.
If these nations act, the ripple effect will be worldwide.
5. Why address heads of government directly?
Because initial letters to bureaucratic departments were mostly ignored. Silence from ministries equals indifference. By escalating to leaders, NRE removes the excuse of ignorance.
6. Why is the United States not in the same round?
Because U.S. public decency laws are fragmented across states and municipalities. A federal letter would achieve little. NRE is preparing a dedicated U.S. campaign tailored to state level realities.
The Letters & Reports
7. What do the letters demand?
• Legal recognition of naturism as a non-sexual lifestyle.
• Reform of discriminatory public decency laws.
• Protection of naturist spaces and individuals.
• Honest engagement instead of silence.
8. What reports back up the letters?
NRE has produced:
• Lobbying reports exposing political collusion.
• Economic impact reports showing naturism’s growth potential.
• Ecological impact & CO₂ reduction studies showing naturism reduces consumption
and emissions.
• Legal analyses showing how reforms can be implemented.
9. Why are some reports abridged?
Full reports are available but require modest fees to sustain operations. Federations are exempt and may access all reports for free. This is about sustainability, not profit. Federations & Politics
10. Why not leave advocacy to existing federations?
Because most federations have avoided politics out of fear of government backlash. Their silence has allowed outdated laws and stigma to persist. NaturismRE steps in to do what federations have failed to do: confront governments directly.
11. Isn’t this divisive?
Division already exists because of stagnation. NRE invites federations to collaborate. But neutrality in the face of discrimination is not neutrality — it is complicity.
12. What about the claim that naturism should stay apolitical?
That claim is false and harmful. Laws, policies, and censorship are political. If naturists avoid politics, they surrender their rights to industries and institutions that profit from body shame
and overconsumption.
Action & Participation
13. How can individuals get involved?
• Download NRE’s letter templates.
• Edit them in your own words.
• Send them to your government.
• Share the campaign publicly.
• Join in Operation DISROBE: Document, Investigate, Shame, Reveal, Organise,
Broadcast, Expose.
14. Will governments actually respond?
Some already have (e.g., Finland, France, Ireland, Latvia, New Zealand). The more voices governments hear — not just from NRE but from their own citizens — the harder it is for them to remain silent.
15. What happens if governments continue to ignore?
Silence will be documented and broadcast. Public records will show which nations refused dialogue. This transparency shames inaction and builds pressure for reform.
Bigger Picture
16. Why link naturism to environmental and economic issues?
Because naturism isn’t just cultural — it reduces overconsumption, textile waste, and CO₂ emissions. It promotes mental health, which reduces healthcare costs. It supports tourism and local economies when embraced. Naturism is part of the sustainability conversation.
17. What is the ultimate goal of the NRE(X) Files?
To move naturism from the margins to the mainstream — recognised legally, respected culturally, and protected as a legitimate way of life.
18. What does “Silence is not neutrality” mean?
It means governments cannot pretend that ignoring naturism is harmless. Silence is a choice to uphold discrimination, outdated laws, and stigma. NRE demands accountability.
