Clarifying Concerns from Venue Owners: Legalising Naturism Will Strengthen, Not Threaten, the Industry - PDF VERSION CLICK HERE
From NaturismRE – The Naturism Resurgence
A global movement advocating for Nudism & Naturism
Kära vänner och partners i naturist- och nudistsamhället,
We’ve recently received thoughtful messages from some naturist and clothing-optional
venue owners regarding NaturismRE’s legislative eAorts—particularly around the
potential legal recognition of public nudity and clothing-optional freedom in Australia.
The concern is fair and worth addressing:
“If naturism becomes legally permitted in public spaces, will people still come to
venues? Could businesses suffer?”
We hear you. And we value your role in the naturist community deeply.
Global Evidence: Legalisation Brings Growth, Not Decline
In countries where public nudity is legally recognised—such as Germany, Spain, France,
and parts of Scandinavia—the impact has been overwhelmingly positive:
More venues have opened, not closed
Memberships and attendance have increased
Greater public awareness has introduced new people to naturism
Both public spaces and private venues coexist, creating a balanced, vibrant
ecosystem
While public spaces oAer freedom, venues oAer something irreplaceable: safety,
community, comfort, and support—especially valued by families, older persons,
newcomers, and international visitors.
Venues Remain Central to Our Shared Future
Naturist venues are the heart of our culture. They are places of:
Wellness and rest
Belonging and education
Family time and celebration
Even in regions with clothing-optional laws, people continue to seek out well-run
naturist venues for the quality, reliability, and community they offer.
We want to reassure you that NaturismRE does not see venues as outdated or
endangered—but essential.
We Respect the ANF and Support Their Ongoing Role
NaturismRE would also like to clearly state our deep respect for the Australian Naturist
Federation (ANF), which is the official federation for naturists in Australia and an
accredited national body linked to the INF-FNI (International Naturist Federation).
We are not here to compete with, replace, or diminish the influence or importance of
the ANF. On the contrary:
We actively support the ANF's work and share many common goals in promoting
and defending naturist rights
We encourage venues, clubs, and individuals to continue supporting and
aAiliating with the ANF
We recognise that the ANF is essential to the structure, credibility, and
international voice of naturism in Australia
We are proud to work collaboratively with ANF on shared advocacy, education, and
public awareness eAorts.

We’re Investing in Venues Ourselves
If we believed that legalisation would undermine naturist venues, we would not be
investing in one ourselves.
NaturismRE is currently developing the Modriaty Clothing Optional Resort, a planned
A$60 million+ destination designed to be eco-conscious, inclusive, and world-class.
We would never advocate for changes that damage the industry we’re actively helping
build. Quite the opposite—our belief is that legal progress and a strong venue network
go hand in hand.
Preparing for Growth: Let’s Shape the Future Together
NRE is developing nationally aligned standards to help Australian naturist venues adapt
to a new wave of interest and tourism. These voluntary standards will:
Promote safety, accessibility, and ethical practices
Support training, hospitality, and environmental stewardship
o Help build Australia’s credibility as a global naturist destination
We invite venue owners to co-create these standards with us and ensure their voices
help shape what comes next.
Respecting All Spaces – Public and Private
Our advocacy is not about “nudity everywhere.” NaturismRE supports a respectful, well
managed approach that includes:
Clear signage and zoning
Separation of clothing-optional areas from general public areas
Local consultation and cooperation
We strongly believe in preserving textile-friendly areas while carving out safe,
designated zones for naturist expression—always with respect for others.
We’re on the Same Side
NaturismRE is not your competitor.
We are your advocate, your partner, and your strongest ally in building a safer, more
inclusive, and more visible naturist future in Australia.
If you already support the ANF, we encourage you to continue. If you’d like to support us
as well, that’s fantastic — we deeply appreciate it, and together we can do even more.
If you’d like to collaborate, contribute, or stay informed about our work, we warmly invite
you to get in touch.
