Why Am I a Naturist?

First and foremost, I am a naturist because I enjoy the simple freedom of being without clothes whenever I can. If it were legal and accepted everywhere, like it is in the French city of Cap d'Agde, I’d be over the moon. There’s something about being nude that feels natural, liberating, and far less confining than the everyday ritual of dressing up to meet societal norms.

But beyond the personal freedom, I’m also drawn to the health benefits that the clothes-free lifestyle brings. Being nude promotes body acceptance—an important mental shift where you no longer obsess over what you look like, but instead appreciate your body for what it is. This freedom isn’t just mental, though. Being nude encourages healthier skin, boosts vitamin D levels from sun exposure, improves blood circulation, and even helps detoxify the skin. That’s not to say sun protection isn’t important—trust me, you don’t want to forget your suncream!

Then, there’s the environmental aspect. Imagine a world where it’s normal to go about our daily lives without clothes (aside from PPE for safety and weather-appropriate situations, of course). Just think of the impact this would have on industries that rely on us covering up. There would be less manufacturing of clothing, meaning less pollution from factories, less wastage of materials, and ultimately, a cleaner environment with fewer pollutants in the air and water. It’s a small change with massive potential benefits for the planet.

In my professional life, I’m required to wear a uniform, which I honestly dislike. So when I’m not at work, not wearing anything becomes a double relief—physical and mental. I’m often told I’m an exhibitionist, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Exhibitionism is about sexual motivation, and that’s not what this is. For me, it’s about freedom, and I don’t care what anyone thinks of how I look. Everyone is free to think what they want, but I hope that by sharing my experience, I can help just one more person feel the same kind of liberation.

When I’m nude, I feel light, unrestricted, and completely in tune with my surroundings. That’s why nude hiking is such a passion of mine. The feeling of the sun and breeze on my skin, combined with the joy of movement without the constraint of sweaty clothes—it’s pure bliss. Nude swimming is another favourite. It just makes sense: why dry off in soggy clothes when you can experience the water and the air directly on your skin?

Naturism isn’t just something I do outdoors. Even at home, being naked for a few hours helps me unwind. But when I’m in nature—whether on a beach or in the bush—it’s a whole different level of relaxation. I often meditate nude, and in those moments, I feel like I’m hitting a reset button on life. It’s a chance to recharge mentally and physically, to refresh my mind before returning to the everyday stresses of life.

To sum it up, naturism is about more than just the absence of clothes. It’s about freedom of movement, the undeniable health benefits, and the mental clarity that comes with embracing your natural self. If you haven’t tried it yet, I strongly recommend you give it a go. You might just discover a new sense of freedom.

Stay safe, stay nude!

Cheers,
Vince
