Subject: Request for Official Recognition of Naturism/Nudism as a Legitimate and Protected Form of Expression
Dear [Title + Surname],
I am writing to request that [insert government or institution] formally recognise naturism and/or social nudism as a legitimate, non-sexual, peaceful expression of cultural and personal identity, deserving of protection and respectful treatment under applicable human rights and civil liberties frameworks.
Naturism (also referred to as nudism) is an international movement with deep roots in body acceptance, ecological balance, non-violence, and the rejection of harmful social stigma related to the human form. It is widely practised in over 50 countries and recognised by public bodies across Europe and the Americas.
However, in [your country], there remains significant ambiguity and discrimination regarding non-sexual nudity, often due to outdated laws, moral assumptions, or a lack of formal recognition. This leaves individuals and communities vulnerable to social exclusion, harassment, and in some cases, unjust legal consequences.
🔹 Request for Action:
We respectfully request that your office consider issuing a formal statement or policy acknowledging that:
Naturism/nudism is a legitimate lifestyle or belief system, deserving of the same tolerance and protection afforded to other peaceful philosophies.
Non-sexual nudity in appropriate contexts (e.g., nature, private venues, designated zones) does not constitute indecency, lewdness, or criminal conduct.
Naturists should be protected from discrimination, harassment, or censorship in public discourse and media representation.
Public nudity laws and decency codes should be reviewed in consultation with naturist organisations, human rights advocates, and international legal norms.
🔹 International Precedent:
In Spain, Germany, and New Zealand, public nudity is legal in most natural settings unless clearly offensive or sexually explicit.
The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms the right to freedom of expression, belief, and peaceful assembly — rights often denied to naturists due to social bias rather than law.
In 2014, the Canadian Supreme Court ruled in R. v. Gosselin that non-sexual nudity in public spaces is not inherently indecent.
NaturismRE is committed to lawful, respectful, and transparent advocacy. We do not seek to impose nudity on others — only to protect the rights of those who embrace it as a valid, healthy, and peaceful way of life.
We welcome dialogue, expert consultation, or a review process to help move toward inclusive and rights-based recognition of this growing movement.
Sincerely,
